How can we not celebrate our resident superhero canine Herald on National Dog Day?

Herald was rescued from @tacomahumane (Humane Society of Tacoma and Pierce County) and has raised over $110k for animal conservation through the Dr. Holly Reed Wildlife Fund over the years.

One of our sweet donors 😇 recently purchased some buoys for our Zoo animals and Hudson the Muskox couldn't be happier.

Despite his tough guy persona, he can be a little hesitant to start roughhousing with new enrichment items. But it's only a matter of time until he lets loose and shows that buoy who's boss.

We ❤️ and appreciate our donors so much - thank you for supporting the wellness of the Zoo animals!

It's World Elephant Day, one of our favorite days since we always love to celebrate our precious Suki.

Now in her late 50s, Suki is one of the elderly animals at the Zoo and receives extra special care. She has an exercise plan and several enrichment activities that keep her mentally and physically sound.

Conservation efforts are so important for these animals as they are still in danger in many parts of the world.

Want to do your part? You can #AdoptASpecies and provide support toward animal care today. Click the link in our bio to adopt!

This weekend, come celebrate with us at @ptdefiancezoo and meet the fantastic five who make up our streak of tigers - Bandar, Raja, Indah, Kirana, and Kali (pictured)

All weekend long, their keepers will be treating them to special enrichments that are not only yummy but are also good for them.
