CONSERVATION IS IN OUR DNA

The 35,000- square foot, state-of-the-art Pacific Seas Aquarium at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium connects people to conservation of the world’s waters in new and innovative ways. The new aquarium and it’s diversity of marine life immerses visitors in the Pacific Seas, from the cold waters of Alaska and Puget Sound to the warm depths of the Gulf of California.

A NEW AQUARIUM FOR A CHANGING WORLD

The Pacific Seas Aquarium Achieved Several Important Goals:

  • Replaced the deteriorating, 54 year old North Pacific Aquarium
  • Provided critically needed animal life-support systems, including advanced water filtration and energy-efficient practices.
  • Created an enhanced visitor experience.
  • Inspired our visitors with a “call to conservation action.”

OLD AND NEW UNITE

In summary, the Pacific Seas Aquarium will be a marriage of old and new, providing habitats for the native Puget Sound sea life that our visitors have grown to know and love while featuring new exhibits that spotlight farther reaches of the Pacific Ocean. Exciting new species, such as scalloped hammerhead sharks, green sea turtles and spotted eagle rays, will debut in the beautiful Baja Bay exhibit. Four stunning art installations will mesmerize guests as they explore the new aquarium.

THANK YOU DONORS

We would like to thank each and every donor for their contribution to this amazing conservation legacy. With your financial support, the Pacific Seas Aquarium dream has been brought to life and has become the truly extraordinary legacy we all dreamed it could be.

SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR PARTNERS WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE
