Keep the Vision Alive and join the Vision Keeper Club!

Vision Keepers at Point Defiance Zoo are a group of philanthropic individuals who help ensure the vitality and excellence of the Zoo. They learn more about wildlife, wild places, the environment and the conservation efforts the Zoo is engaged in both locally and abroad. Annual donations of $500* or more directly support the Zoo’s programs around animal care, education, and conservation.

Vision Keeper Club members experience the Zoo in unique ways, with opportunities to go behind the scenes to meet our animals and their keepers, learn more about important conservation topics championed by the Zoo, and have fun at several exclusive Zoo and Zoo Society events throughout the year.

*Donations are defined as single, annual gifts of $500 or more, excluding auction purchases, ticket sales, adopt-an-animal sale s and event-related sponsorships.

Members Are Essential to the Future of the Zoo

Your contribution plays an important role in:

  • Animal Care

The Zoo and Aquarium has more than 9,000 animal residents representing different species for which we provide naturalistic habitats, nutritious meals, enrichments and exceptional medical care. Zookeepers work hard to enrich the lives of our animals in their care through added activities and items to help our collection remain happy and healthy through increased naturalistic behaviors.

  • Conservation Initiatives

For over 110 years, our commitment to conservation has remained strong part of our mission. We provide guests opportunities to view, and appreciate, species they might otherwise never see, educate and nurture future citizen scientists, and engage in ensuring genetic diversity in populations of endangered species through successful Species Survival Plan® breeding programs. Abroad we support anti-poaching programs in the race to save wild tigers; forest protection and the study of wild cats in Borneo and Sumatra; studies of coral reefs and their importance in the longevity of the ocean and more.

  • Education Programming

The Zoo excels at creating and establishing connections between guests and nature, encouraging care for the natural world through formal and informal programs. Our Citizen Science program brings biologists and the community together for a common cause – to record data to help monitor, research and potentially save an endangered or threatened species in and around our local communities.
