The Zoo Society
A 501(c)(3) non-profit fundraising organization whose mission and purpose is to provide and promote financial, volunteer and community support to the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. The Zoo Society supports PDZA in their efforts to promote responsible stewardship of earth’s limited resources through education, conservation, research, preservation and recreational opportunities.
Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is located on 29 acres within Tacoma’s Point Defiance Park. The Zoo is a national leader in endangered species breeding and reintroduction efforts and is a fully accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). It is the only combined zoo and aquarium in the Northwest, with annual attendance of more than 700,000 visitors.
400 philanthropic community and business leaders from the Greater Puget Sound area for the reception, dinner & auction.
Zoobilee 2016 raised more than $379,000. The Fund-A-Need raised more than $95,000 to fund PDZA’s Dr. Holly Reed Wildlife Conservation Fund.

What is Zoobilee?
The Zoo Society’s annual gala, Zoobilee which started in 1990 as a fun summer event full of food and music. In 2012 the event changed focus and direction into what it is today – a philanthropic event raising money to support the animals, education and conservation efforts of Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.
Guests to the Reception/Dinner/Live Auction will experience live entertainment, up-close animal interactions, and an array of signature bites prepared by local restaurants. They will then indulge in a gourmet dinner, bid on unique and exceptional packages during a live auction to support the great work of The Zoo Society.
Who is The Zoo Society?
The Zoo Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit fundraising organization whose purpose is to lend financial support to Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. The Zoo Society generates support for Zoo and Aquarium exhibits, education programs, scientific re-search, conservation activities, animal husbandry and care, capital projects and resources. Funds for programs are generated through annual fund gifts, grants, individual donations, corporate sponsorships and fund raising events. Contributions can also be made to the Zoo Society Endowment Fund.
What should I wear to this year's Zoobilee?
Let’s go tropical with Island Cocktail attire for 2017. Still dressy but with a flair for the tropics. Please no jeans, Daisy Dukes, or board shorts – come dressed to impress, island style!
Do I need to pre-purchase my seats?
Yes, seats must be pre-purchased. Tickets will go on sale early April.
Are children allowed?
We ask that all of our guests attending be age 21 or over.
Do you have transportation or mobility options available for special guests?
Yes. We have electric carts, wheelchairs and security escorts available for any guests that need special attention. Please contact Lisa Johnson, Senior Development Director, at 253-404-3651 to reserve specific transportation in advance.
